Somnath

Somnath, located on the western coast of Gujarat, is one of the most revered and ancient pilgrimage sites in India. It is home to the Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, making it a vital spiritual destination for devotees across the country. The temple stands majestically by the Arabian Sea, offering a divine blend of sacredness and natural beauty.

Rich in history and mythology, Somnath has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over centuries by various rulers and invaders, yet it stands today as a symbol of faith and resilience. The present temple, built in Chalukya style, reflects architectural grandeur and spiritual grace. According to legend, the temple was originally built by Chandra Dev (Moon God) in gold, then rebuilt by Ravana in silver, Krishna in wood, and Bhima in stone.
